Not Afraid, Took Only a Policy Decision: KTR
The registration of an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) case against Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) concerning the Formula E-Car Racing project has created a political stir in both Telugu states. KTR has been named as Accused No. 1 (A1) in the case, along with two others, facing non-bailable charges.
Speaking informally to the media at the Assembly premises, KTR dismissed concerns about the case, stating, “I am not afraid. Not a single paisa of corruption took place.” He asserted that the decision regarding the Formula E-Car Racing project was purely policy-driven, made in his capacity as a minister. He further claimed that the ACB has no jurisdiction to register a case in this matter.
Referring to previous statements, KTR recalled that Minister Ponnam Prabhakar had also clarified that there was no corruption and that procedural norms were followed in the project. He questioned whether the Chief Minister was being misled or if he himself was leading others astray. He pointed out that there might be a communication gap at the Chief Minister’s level.
KTR demanded an inquiry by a sitting judge into the Outer Ring Road (ORR) tender process, arguing that an investigation conducted by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) would lack impartiality since its officials might follow government directives. He alleged that officials working under Revanth Reddy would not ensure a fair probe.
