Paritala Ravi Murder Case Convicts Released from Jail
The convicts in the murder case of late leader Paritala Ravi were released from jail today after securing bail from the High Court. The accused—Narayana Reddy (A3), Rekhamayya (A4), Ranganayakulu (A5), Vadde Konda (A6), and Obireddy (A8)—were granted bail, leading to their release. Four of them were released from Kadapa Central Jail, while one was freed from Visakhapatnam Central Jail. They had been serving prison terms for the past 18 years.
On January 24, 2005, Paritala Ravi was brutally killed at the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) district office in Anantapur. During the attack, Moddu Seenu, Rekhamayya, and Narayana Reddy opened fire, while Obireddy, Ranganayakulu, and Vadde Konda hurled bombs outside the TDP office, creating widespread panic. The shooting resulted in the deaths of Paritala Ravi, his gunman, and a close follower from Dharmavaram.
The case initially implicated 16 individuals, with four later acquitted by the court. Among the remaining 12, Rammohan Reddy turned approver. Key accused Moddu Seenu (A1), Maddelacheruvu Suri (A2), and Thagarakunta Kondareddy were killed during the investigation.
Former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and former minister J.C. Diwakar Reddy were also accused but were cleared of charges after a CBI investigation concluded their non-involvement.
