CM Chandrababu Focuses on Farmer Welfare During Ganguru Visit
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu toured the unified Krishna district today along with some ministers. After inspecting a paddy procurement center in Ganguru, he addressed a media conference, emphasizing that reducing expenses and increasing farmers' income remain their primary goals.
He stated that farmers would be guided on the most profitable crops for different seasons and conditions. Additionally, they would be educated on effective marketing strategies post-harvest to maximize profits.
CM Chandrababu stressed the importance of maintaining precision in paddy moisture levels and other quality aspects. He pointed out lapses by rice mills in distributing gunny bags and assured that five crore gunny bags were ready for supply.
He mentioned previous efforts to install dryers at market committees, especially in areas with high moisture content. Out of 1,713 rice mills, only 394 have dryers, highlighting the need for more facilities. He emphasized the necessity of providing farmers with storage options for their produce.
Discussing harvesting technology, he noted that farmers were pleased with harvesters due to increased yields. He also referred to the growing use of drones for pesticide spraying and urged officials to monitor waterlogging in fields.
The Chief Minister revealed that paddy procurement this year has increased by 40% compared to the same period last year. He stated that 2.14 million metric tonnes of paddy had already been purchased from 320,000 farmers, with payments processed within 48 hours of procurement.
