Andhra Pradesh Coastal Districts Brace for Heavy Rains Due to Bay of Bengal Depression
A severe depression persisting over the Bay of Bengal poses a significant threat of heavy rainfall to the coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh, according to the Meteorological Department. The depression is expected to move toward the Andhra Pradesh and northern Tamil Nadu coasts, as per the department's forecast. Currently, it is progressing near the coastline, accompanied by cloudy skies and strong winds. This system is likely to cause widespread rains across the state until Thursday, officials stated.
For today, moderate to heavy rains are anticipated in the districts of Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Kakinada, Guntur, Bapatla, East Godavari, West Godavari, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Alluri Sitarama Raju, Parvathipuram Manyam, Palnadu, Prakasam, Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema, Krishna, and NTR districts.
The department also predicts similar weather for Wednesday, with moderate to heavy rains likely in Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore, Tirupati, Palnadu, Bapatla, and Prakasam districts. Due to high wind speeds reaching up to 55 kmph in the sea, the Visakhapatnam Weather Center has advised fishermen to avoid venturing out for fishing until Wednesday.
Ports across the state, including Gangavaram, Kakinada, Nizampatnam, Krishnapatnam, Visakhapatnam, Machilipatnam, and Kalingapatnam, along with several in Tamil Nadu, remain under third-level danger warnings.
