Visakhapatnam CP Announces Rules for New Year Events
As the New Year approaches, Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner Shankha Brata Bagchi has issued comprehensive guidelines for hotels, restaurants, pubs, and clubs in the city to ensure orderly celebrations. He emphasized that establishments hosting events on December 31 must conclude operations by 1 AM.
Commissioner Bagchi stated that prior permission must be obtained for organizing special events. He further instructed that CCTV cameras be installed at event venues to monitor activities effectively. He also mandated that events must avoid indecent content and ensure sound levels do not exceed prescribed limits. Strict action will be taken against the use of drugs at these events.
The Commissioner warned that those caught for drunk driving could face a fine of ₹10,000 or up to six months of imprisonment. Additionally, driving licenses may be suspended for three months, longer durations, or even permanently revoked, depending on the severity of the offense.
He urged women to promptly contact the SHE Teams if they face any difficulties during the celebrations.
