Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's Funeral Concluded, Rahul Gandhi Carries the Bier
The funeral of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh concluded with full military honors at Nigambodh Ghat in Delhi. The rites were conducted according to Sikh traditions. Rahul Gandhi, a senior Congress leader, carried the bier as part of the ceremony.
The funeral was attended by prominent figures, including President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Union Ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, JP Nadda, and Kiren Rijiju, along with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi were also present. Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and BRS Working President KT Rama Rao participated. Several foreign dignitaries, including Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, were also in attendance.
Manmohan Singh, aged 92, passed away unexpectedly at his residence after collapsing late at night. His family rushed him to AIIMS hospital, where he passed away during treatment. Singh served as India’s Prime Minister for ten years, in addition to his roles as the RBI Governor and Union Finance Minister under PV Narasimha Rao’s administration.
