Nitish Kumar Reddy, the young cricketer from Andhra Pradesh, delivered a memorable performance during the ongoing fourth Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the prestigious Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Batting at number eight, Nitish Kumar Reddy scored a remarkable century, pulling Team India out of the danger of a follow-on. His celebrations, marked by a “Pushpa” style gesture for his half-century and a “Baahubali” pose for his century, have gone viral on social media, with videos circulating widely.

In his first reaction to his maiden Test century, Nitish Kumar Reddy shared his emotions, saying, “I saw my father in tears. It was my dream to make him proud.” Explaining his Baahubali-style celebration, he said, “After completing the century, I placed my bat upright on the ground and positioned my helmet on it. The national flag is on the helmet, and I saluted it as a tribute to my country.” Nitish Kumar Reddy described representing the nation as his greatest inspiration and expressed that this century would remain one of the most cherished moments of his life.

The cricketer also praised Hyderabad pacer Mohammed Siraj, who played a crucial role in helping him secure the final run needed for the century. “Do you know something? Siraj has this mindset of ‘I can do it.’ He has taken that confidence to the next level. I am so grateful for his support,” Nitish Kumar Reddy remarked.

Nitish Kumar Reddy’s journey to the century wasn’t without drama. With his personal score at 99, Washington Sundar and Jasprit Bumrah were dismissed in quick succession, heightening the suspense over whether he would achieve the milestone. Entering as the last man, Mohammed Siraj cautiously defended three balls to give Nitish Kumar Reddy the strike. With the opportunity in hand, Nitish Kumar Reddy struck a splendid boundary to complete his century, creating a moment to remember.
