In a significant development in the Madanapalle Sub-Collector’s office file-burning case, which had caused widespread sensation across Andhra Pradesh, the CID has arrested Gautam Tej, the primary accused. Gautam Tej, a senior assistant who worked at the office, was taken into custody by the Andhra Pradesh CID on Monday in Palamaner. He was later presented before the Chittoor district court, where the judge remanded him to judicial custody for 14 days, following which he was sent to jail.

The incident occurred on July 21 at the Madanapalle Sub-Collector’s office, where an alleged fire destroyed critical files. The case gained attention due to suspicions of a conspiracy behind the incident. Initial investigations revealed potential evidence, prompting the government to transfer the case to the CID. Prior to this, the police interrogated the then-RDO and other staff members over a week as part of the inquiry.
