The Andhra Pradesh government has revised the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to investigate the alleged illegal transport of ration rice to foreign destinations through the Kakinada Port. Initially, the SIT was led by CID IG Vineet Brijlal, with members including CID SP Umamaheswara Rao and DSPs Balasundara Rao, Ashok Vardhan, Ratthayya, and Govindaraj.

However, the appointment of four DSPs in the initial SIT drew significant criticism. Following objections raised against these officers, the state government announced a new SIT with revised members.

The revamped SIT will continue to function under the leadership of CID IG Vineet Brijlal. It comprises CID SP Umamaheswara Rao, BC Welfare Department Kakinada ED Srinivasa Rao, Women and Child Welfare Department Kurnool RD Rohini, Civil Supplies Department Vizianagaram Officer Madhusudhan Rao, and Konaseema District Civil Supplies Manager Balasaraswathi. Chief Secretary issued orders to this effect.

The new SIT includes two IPS officers and two officials holding the rank of Deputy Collector. Additionally, it incorporates officials from the Civil Supplies Department. The SIT is tasked with investigating 13 FIRs registered in Kakinada related to the illegal transport of ration rice.
