A 30-year-old man from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, identified as Badal Babu, was arrested by Pakistani authorities after illegally crossing the India-Pakistan border to meet a woman he had fallen in love with. The woman, hailing from Punjab province in Pakistan, had connected with Badal on Facebook, and their online interaction gradually turned into a romantic relationship.

In an attempt to meet her, Badal crossed the international border illegally, only to be apprehended in Mandi Bahauddin, Pakistan, on December 27. Local authorities filed a case against him under Pakistani law and presented him in court, which subsequently remanded him to 14 days in judicial custody. Badal was then transferred to a jail as investigations commenced.

Authorities in Pakistan are probing whether his entry was solely driven by romantic intentions or if there were other underlying motives. Reports also indicate that this was not his first attempt to cross the border. Badal had previously tried twice and failed, but on his third attempt, he managed to reach his destination, albeit ending up in police custody.

This incident, although it occurred on December 27, came to light only recently.
