Manu Bhaker, Gukesh Kumar Among Recipients of Khel Ratna Award

The Government of India has announced the recipients of the prestigious Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Awards for the year 2024. Four outstanding sportspersons have been selected for their remarkable performances.

Ending weeks of speculation, the government declared that star shooter Manu Bhaker will receive this honor. This announcement follows a controversy regarding her application for the award, which involved disagreements between Bhaker and the awards committee.

Alongside Manu Bhaker, World Chess Championship winner Gukesh Kumar, para-athlete Praveen Kumar, and Indian hockey team captain Harmanpreet Singh have also been named as recipients.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports announced that the awards ceremony will take place on January 17 at 11:00 AM at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, where the honorees will be felicitated by the President of India.
