The first day of play in the fifth and final Test match between India and Australia, part of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, concluded at the Sydney Cricket Ground. At stumps, Australia managed to score 9 runs for the loss of one wicket in their first innings. Opener Usman Khawaja was dismissed for 2 runs by Indian captain Jasprit Bumrah, caught by KL Rahul off the final delivery of the third over.
