Supreme Court Collegium Recommends Transfer of Telangana and Bombay High Court Chief Justices

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the transfer of Telangana High Court Chief Justice Justice Alok Aradhe to the Bombay High Court. Born on April 13, 1964, Justice Alok Aradhe was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court in December 2009 and was subsequently sworn in as a permanent judge in February 2011. He assumed charge as the Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court on July 23, 2023.

In a similar move, the Collegium has proposed the transfer of Bombay High Court Chief Justice Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya to the Delhi High Court. Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, born on June 16, 1965, began his judicial career as an Additional Judge of the Allahabad High Court in November 2011. He was elevated to the position of permanent judge in August 2013 and took charge as Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court on July 29, 2023.
