‘Daaku Maharaaj’ Pre-release Event Cancelled Following Tirupati Tragedy
The production company behind Nandamuri Balakrishna's upcoming film Daaku Maharaaj has officially cancelled the pre-release event, originally scheduled to take place on Thursday in Anantapur. The decision was announced via social media, citing respect for the recent tragedy in Tirupati, where a stampede resulted in the deaths of six devotees.
In a statement, the production house expressed deep sorrow over the incident, calling it a profoundly distressing event. "Holding a celebratory event during such a time would not be appropriate," the statement noted, emphasizing the decision was made out of respect for the sentiments of the bereaved families and devotees. Consequently, the team decided to cancel the pre-release event with utmost reverence.
Initially, the pre-release event was planned as part of the promotional campaign for Daaku Maharaaj, which is set to hit theatres on January 12, coinciding with the Sankranti festival. The event was to be held in Anantapur, with Andhra Pradesh minister Nara Lokesh invited as the chief guest. However, following the tragic incident in Tirupati, the organizers chose to cancel the event in deference to the prevailing somber mood.
