Tirupati Stampede Incident: AP Government Announces Ex-Gratia for Families of Victims
In the wake of the tragic stampede incident during the Vaikuntha Ekadashi Sarvadarshan token issuance in Tirupati, six devotees lost their lives. The Andhra Pradesh government has announced an ex-gratia of ₹25 lakh for the family of each deceased victim. Anagani Satya Prasad, the state’s Revenue Minister, made this announcement following his visit to the injured at Ruia Hospital on Thursday morning.
Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, the minister said that the loss of lives due to the stampede was distressing and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
Home Minister Anita and the state’s Endowments and Charitable Affairs Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy also visited Ruia Hospital, offering solace to the victims and their families. Additionally, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is expected to arrive at the hospital shortly to personally meet the victims and assess the situation. Besides Ruia Hospital, several injured individuals are receiving treatment at SVIMS Hospital as well.
In light of the tragic event, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, along with several other ministers, has postponed their scheduled programs to focus on relief measures.
