Prudhvi Raj Apologizes for Comments Made at 'Laila' Pre-Release Event

Cine comedian Prudhvi Raj has issued an apology for the remarks he made during the pre-release event of the film Laila. In a video message, he expressed regret if his comments had hurt anyone's sentiments and clarified that he harbors no personal grudges or ill will against anyone.
Prudhvi Raj stated that he was offering his apology to ensure that the film does not suffer any negative consequences. He urged audiences to welcome Laila instead of calling for a boycott, emphasizing his wish for the film’s success. He also expressed his hope that Laila would achieve a bigger success than Falaknuma Das.
The film, starring Vishwak Sen and directed by Ram Narayan, is produced by Sahu Garapati under the Shine Screens banner. Laila is set for release on February 14. However, comments made by Prudhvi Raj at the pre-release event have sparked political controversy.
During his speech, Prudhvi Raj mentioned that he played the role of "Mekala Satti" in the film and shared an anecdote about how the number of goats on set reportedly decreased from 150 to just 11 by the end of filming. He stated that he was unsure whether this was purely coincidental. His remarks triggered backlash from YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders, who perceived them as a veiled reference to the party. Many believed his comments were directed at the YSRCP, leading to widespread criticism.
In response, YSRCP supporters launched a social media campaign calling for a boycott of Laila. Amid the growing controversy, Prudhvi Raj issued his apology in an attempt to defuse tensions.
