Shubman Gill Responds to Speculation on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli's Retirement

Speculation has been rife about the possible retirement of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli after the ICC Champions Trophy. Reports have suggested that one or both players might bid farewell to international cricket following the tournament. Addressing these rumors, Indian vice-captain Shubman Gill provided a different perspective.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference ahead of the Champions Trophy final against New Zealand on Sunday, Gill stated that retirement discussions have not taken place in the dressing room. He expressed his happiness at being part of India's formidable batting lineup and highlighted the depth in the squad. According to him, this batting depth allows the top three batsmen greater freedom at the crease.
Gill described Rohit Sharma as the best opener in the world and emphasized that Virat Kohli’s skills require no special mention. He also shared the team's excitement for the final, asserting that they are determined to win the title. Reflecting on their past disappointment, he acknowledged that India missed out on the ODI World Cup but affirmed that they are committed to ensuring a different outcome this time.
