CM Chandrababu Seeks ₹47,000 Crore More for Amaravati Development
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has informed the 16th Finance Commission that an additional ₹47,000 crore is required for the development of the capital city, Amaravati. According to his statement, a total of ₹77,249 crore is necessary for infrastructure and developmental projects in Amaravati. Of this amount, ₹31,000 crore has already been secured through funding from the World Bank, HUDCO, and the KfW Development Bank. He explained that the remaining ₹47,000 crore is still needed.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu also outlined the key funding requirements of Andhra Pradesh to the Finance Commission, listing the following major needs:

Polavaram-Banakacharla Linkage: This infrastructure connection is identified as a crucial requirement.

Drinking Water Projects: Several initiatives are planned to improve water access in the state.

Five Tourism Hubs: The Chief Minister highlighted the development of tourism hubs in Amaravati, Visakhapatnam, Araku, Tirupati, and Rajamahendravaram. He also mentioned the need for an incubation centre at IIT Tirupati, a Buddhist Circuit, a National Museum in Amaravati, and a world-class convention centre in Visakhapatnam.

Knowledge Economy Initiatives: As part of enhancing the state's knowledge-driven growth, the Chief Minister listed the Quantum Valley Project, skill development programmes, the Ratan Tata Innovation Hub, and the achievement of 100% literacy as priorities.

Ports and Infrastructure Development: The state is focusing on the development of ports, fishing harbours, multimodal logistics parks, greenfield airports, inland waterways, and roadways.

Regional Growth Centres: Amaravati, Visakhapatnam, and Tirupati have been identified as regional growth centres. The Chief Minister urged the Finance Commission to recommend grants for implementing these key projects.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu emphasized that these initiatives are essential for the holistic development of Andhra Pradesh and appealed for necessary financial support from the Finance Commission.
