BJP OBC National Morcha chief Laxman files nomination as RS candidate from UP
Hyderabad, May 31: The BJP top leadership has decided to nominate party’s OBC National Morcha president K. Laxman to Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh. On Monday night, the BJP released the names of four candidates including Laxman.
The BJP proposed the name of Laxman for the Upper House keeping Assembly elections in mind to be held in Telangana next year. In the past, Laxman served as MLA for two times and has experience of working as state president. He contested in previous Assembly elections and faced defeat.
The BJP is nominating Laxman to Rajya Sabha in order to garner Kapu votes in next Assembly polls. He is the first BJP leader from Telangana state to be nominated for the Upper House. On Tuesday, Laxman filed nomination as Rajya Sabha candidate.
Speaking to the media, Union Minister Kishan Reddy said that he and Laxman, after becoming MP, will strive for strengthening the BJP in Telangana. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president J.P. Nadda for nominating Laxman to Rajya Sabha.
