MLA Jaggi Reddy sleeps in PS, demands suspension of CI, SI over arrest of 18 Dalits

Konaseema, July 11: YSRCP MLA from Kothapeta Chirla Jaggireddy slept in Ravulapalem police station demanding suspension of CI and SI over the arrest of 18 Dalits. On Monday, he refuted the allegations of former TDP MLA Bandaru Satyananda Rao that he was responsible for their arrest. The MLA challenged Bandaru as to whether he is ready to take vow at Anjaneya Swamy temple that he is behind the arrest.

The row erupted after Dalit members objected to serving food in paper plates printed with photo of Dr. BR Ambedkar at a hotel in Gopalapuram. They came to police station to lodge a complaint against the hotel.

According to reports, the police registered cases under various sections including non-bailable against them and sent them to remand. In support of MLA’s protest, Amalapuram MP Chinta Anuradha and senior YSRCP leader Jakkampudi Vijayalakshmi also sat in police station. Meanwhile, Eluru Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police G. Pala Raju is expected to meet Jaggi Reddy today for resolving the issue.
