YSRCP, TDP spar over ‘agriculture is waste’ comments in Council

Amaravati, September 16: Heated debate erupted between ruling YSRCP and Telugu Desam members on the second day of the Legislative Council during question hour session on Friday over alleged ‘agriculture is waste’ comments of TDP chief and Leader of the Opposition in Assembly N. Chandrababu Naidu. YSRCP MLCs and ministers stated Chandrababu has no right to speak about farmers as he had commented in the past ‘agriculture is waste’.

TDP MLCs including Nara Lokesh raised objection for attributing comments to Naidu which were never spoke by him. They challenged the ministers and ruling MLCs to show evidence as to where and when Chandrababu uttered those words. “Chandrababu never said practising farming is waste,” Lokesh mentioned.

Opposition members stormed into Chairman’s podium and staged a protest. They raised slogans of YSRCP government is anti-farmer and responsible for farmers’ suicides. In previous Council sessions, the YSRCP and TDP also argued on the same subject.
