Rahul Gandhi takes pair of Jack Russell Terrier puppies from Goa

Panaji, Aug 3:  Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday took a pair of four months old Jack Russell Terriers, male and female dogs, from Goa based firm ‘Shade's Kennel’.

Rahul, who arrived in Goa on Wednesday night, visited the ‘Shade's Kennel’ in Mapusa, North district and purchased two puppies.

Sources informed that he had specially come to Goa to take these dogs, breed of which is available with ‘Shade's Kennel’.

Speaking to IANS, Sharvani Pitre of ‘Shade's Kennel’ said that office of Rahul Gandhi had called them inquiring about the dogs, and on Thursday suddenly he came and took them.

“He wanted (these dogs) best available In India. We have introduced this breed in India. Bollywood stars have taken from us, wherever you see it in India it is supplied by us,” she said.

She said that it is a hunting breed and also an intelligent breed. “It is a small breed but intelligent,” she said.

Jack Russell Terrier has a unique record, it is exceptionally popular in Great Britain and was originally bred to hunt and kill rats. It weighs about 4-7 kgs and is about 25 cm tall.

One of the Congress senior leaders, believed to be close to Rahul, informed that the latter loves pets and during his 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' he used to spend some time with them.
