BJP MP Bandi Sanjay's Letter to CM Revanth Reddy
BJP National General Secretary and Karimnagar MP, Bandi Sanjay, penned an open letter to Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Friday. In his letter, he urgently called for the release of overdue payments to workers from the Siricilla region, support for the textile industry of Siricilla through government orders, and the continuation of electricity subsidies. He highlighted the crisis faced by the textile industry in Siricilla, which has led to loss of employment and financial difficulties for both owners and workers for several months. The letter pointed out that the state government has failed to clear pending dues amounting to Rs. 270 crores, causing significant distress due to the absence of new orders.
Sanjay stated that directly or indirectly, around 20,000 people depend on the textile industry for their livelihood. Despite workers striking for 27 days, the government has remained unresponsive, which he described as appalling. He accused the previous government of undermining local businesses with the introduction of "Bathukamma sarees" and subsequently handing over the business to larger entities, causing harm to small traders and workers. This has reportedly led to thousands of families facing hardship.
The workers have been on hunger strikes for 27 days, demanding immediate resolution of their issues. The letter also mentioned that the suspension of subsidies to power loom factories has put additional pressure on workers. It emphasized the need to continue providing electricity subsidies to alleviate their suffering. Sanjay urged for swift action to rescue the Siricilla textile industry from its crisis.
