Details Revealed in Vijayawada Police Commissioner's Press Meet on Assault Against CM Jagan
In a press conference, Vijayawada Police Commissioner Kanti Rana Tata addressed an incident involving a stone attack on Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy. He confirmed that adequate security had been provided during CM Jagan's visit to Vijayawada, including four platoons from the APSP, support from the OCTOPUS unit, and the CM's Security Wing.
The commissioner explained the frequent media queries about the loss of electricity during the CM's rally. He clarified that whenever a high-profile individual like the CM performs a rooftop show, the electricity is turned off to prevent any accidents with the wires. He also noted that in some places, electricity was cut off due to wind and rain, emphasizing that such actions were part of standard security protocols.
The incident occurred near Vivekananda School and Ganganamma Temple in Ajit Singh Nagar, Vijayawada, where an individual was identified throwing a stone at the CM during a roadshow. The identity of the individual was confirmed through CCTV footage and cell phone video recordings from the past two days.
The stone struck CM Jagan on the forehead on the left side and also hit Mr. Vellampalli near his nose and eye before falling to the ground. The video footage was clear, and further clarity was sought by sending the videos to a forensic lab. It was definitively concluded that the object was a stone.
Following the incident, a complaint was lodged by Mr. Vellampalli. Based on his complaint, a case was registered under IPC Section 307, and specialized teams have been assigned for further investigation, Commissioner Kanti Rana Tata detailed.
