Kishan Reddy clarifies government stance on Singareni privatization

Hyderabad: Union Minister Kishan Reddy clarified today that the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) will not be privatized under any circumstances. This statement came in response to a plea from Congress MP Vamshi Krishna in the Lok Sabha, who urged the government to protect Singareni from privatization.

Addressing the issue, Minister Kishan Reddy emphasized that Singareni remains under the control of the state government and assured that there are no plans to privatize the company. He stated, “Privatization of Singareni is not on our agenda.”

Kishan Reddy highlighted that Singareni has not received any new mining leases for the past decade. In contrast, he noted that mining permissions were granted promptly when the BJP government took office in Odisha. He reaffirmed the Narendra Modi government's commitment to the welfare of Singareni.
