Kadapa SP Transferred Over Handling of YSRCP Activist’s Social Media Case

Police detained Varra Ravindra Reddy, a YSRCP activist from Pulivendula, on Tuesday. Ravindra Reddy had previously made objectionable social media posts against political figures such as then-opposition leaders Chandrababu Naidu, Pawan Kalyan, Lokesh, and Vangalapudi Anitha when YSRCP was in power. However, he was released early on Wednesday morning, as the Kadapa Taluka police issued him a 41-A notice and sent him home with instructions to appear for investigation when summoned.

When the police later attempted to re-arrest Ravindra Reddy in connection with another case by visiting his residence, they found he had absconded. Subsequently, police have launched a search operation to locate him. In their efforts, they detained members of his family for questioning at the Chintakommadinne Police Station. Ravindra Reddy reportedly has multiple cases filed against him, including in Mangalagiri and Hyderabad. After his arrest in Pulivendula, he was taken to Kadapa and questioned secretly, yet his unexpected release became a subject of significant discussion.

CM Chandrababu's Strong Reaction

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and DGP Dwaraka Tirumala Rao reportedly took serious note of the circumstances surrounding Ravindra Reddy’s detention and sudden release. Following this, Kurnool Range DIG Koya Praveen entered the case and visited the SP’s office in Kadapa on Wednesday, where he inquired into the case and discussed the details with SP Harshavardhan Raju.

Transfer of Kadapa SP

In response to the lack of appropriate action on complaints regarding Ravindra Reddy’s social media posts, the AP government decided to transfer Kadapa SP Harshavardhan Raju. The government expressed dissatisfaction over merely issuing notices and releasing Reddy without further action. Official orders regarding Harshavardhan’s transfer are awaited. Additionally, the government suspended another Circle Inspector in Kadapa District.
