Phone Scams Alert: Hyderabad Police Issue Precautionary Guidelines

Cybercriminals are constantly devising ways to deceive unsuspecting individuals. They often use phone calls and messages to extract sensitive information like bank account details, debit, and credit card credentials. Recently, Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police have cautioned the public about suspicious calls originating from foreign numbers.

Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police issued a statement on Tuesday warning people about scam calls from certain international numbers. The police identified the following numbers as potentially harmful:

56322553736
37052529259
94777455913
37127913091
255901130460

Countries and Codes to Watch Out For:
The calls appear to originate from countries such as Serbia ( 381), Iowa ( 563), Lithuania ( 370), Latvia ( 371), Belarus ( 375), and Tanzania ( 255). The police explained that once the victim answers such calls, the scammers abruptly disconnect. If the victim calls back, cybercriminals can access critical information like the phone’s contact list, bank details, and credit card data within just three seconds.

Further Warnings:
Suspicious Requests:

The police advised against pressing codes like #90 or #09 if prompted during a call. Doing so could grant scammers access to the user’s SIM card.
This access could lead to the user being framed as a criminal or charged for calls made by the scammers.

Preventive Measures:

Do not answer or return calls from unknown international numbers.
Stay vigilant when receiving instructions from unknown callers.
The Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police urged citizens to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity promptly.
