Car Drags Biker for 30 Kilometers After Collision, Deputy Tehsildar Involved

A shocking road accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich district has come to light, involving a vehicle carrying Deputy Tehsildar Shailesh Awasthi. The incident, which occurred on Thursday, resulted in the tragic death of Narendra Kumar Haldar, a 35-year-old resident of Payagpur village.

According to police reports, Narendra Kumar was returning home on his motorcycle when he was struck by the car on the Nanpara-Bahraich highway. The car, driven by Meraj Ahmad, reportedly lost control, hitting the biker and trapping him underneath the vehicle.

Unaware of the victim being stuck, the driver continued for 30 kilometers before stopping at the Nanpara Tehsildar office. By the time the vehicle came to a halt, Narendra Kumar had succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities arrested Meraj Ahmad and have begun an investigation into the matter. Preliminary findings suggest that those in the vehicle, including the Deputy Tehsildar, were likely aware of the incident and fled the scene to avoid confrontation, as stated by the police.

District Collector Monika Rani has recommended the suspension of Deputy Tehsildar Shailesh Awasthi, citing the gravity of the incident.
