Vinod Kambli's Health Deteriorates; Doctors Report Blood Clot in Brain
Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli has been hospitalized due to a decline in his health. Family members admitted him to a private hospital in Thane on Saturday. Following a series of medical tests, doctors delivered a shocking diagnosis on Monday, revealing a blood clot in Kambli's brain.
Dr. Vivek Trivedi, who is overseeing Kambli’s treatment, stated that the cricketer initially sought medical attention for a urinary tract infection and vertigo. He was admitted to a hospital in the Kalher area of Bhiwandi town. However, after conducting multiple tests, the medical team identified a blood clot in his brain.
"We are continuously monitoring his health, and additional tests will be conducted on Tuesday," said Dr. Trivedi. He further noted that the hospital in-charge, S. Singh, has decided to provide Kambli with free lifelong medical treatment.
Vinod Kambli, a member of the 1996 World Cup squad, has faced significant health challenges and financial difficulties since his retirement. He was last seen at an event commemorating his childhood coach, Ramakant Achrekar, where he appeared weak. At the event, Kambli became emotional upon reuniting with his childhood friend Sachin Tendulkar.
Recently, prominent former Indian cricket captains, including Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev, have come forward to support Kambli in his time of need.
