Three Telugu Girls Selected for the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup Squad

Hyderabad’s young cricketer Gongadi Trisha, who excelled in the Women’s Asia Cup, has been selected for the final squad of the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup. Alongside Trisha, Kesari Dhrithi and Shabnam have also been chosen by the BCCI. The selection committee announced a 15-member squad for the tournament, with Nicky Prasad as the captain and Sanika Chalke as the vice-captain. The inclusion of three players from the Telugu-speaking states in the final team is a notable achievement.

The committee has included two wicketkeepers in the squad and selected three additional players as standbys. Gongadi Trisha and Kesari Dhrithi hail from Hyderabad, while Shabnam is from Visakhapatnam. Trisha delivered a standout performance in the recently held Women’s U19 Asia Cup, scoring a half-century and earning the Player of the Match title.

The tournament is scheduled to take place in Kuala Lumpur from January 18 to February 2. As part of the group stage, Team India will face the West Indies on January 19, Malaysia on January 21, and Sri Lanka on January 23.
