Patnam Narendar Reddy's Bail Should Be Cancelled: IG Satyanarayana
Hyderabad: Inspector General (IG) Satyanarayana has stated that the court will be requested to cancel the bail granted to former MLA and BRS leader Patnam Narendar Reddy, who is an accused in the Lagacharla incident in Vikarabad district. IG Satyanarayana raised objections to Patnam Narendar Reddy's press conference while he was out on conditional bail, alleging it violated the terms of the bail.
Speaking to the media, IG Satyanarayana said, “Holding a press conference while on conditional bail is a breach of regulations.” He also noted that Patnam Narendar Reddy’s remarks during the ongoing investigation could influence the case proceedings. Refuting allegations of police failure during the Lagacharla incident, he pointed out that security arrangements were made with 230 personnel on the day of the incident.
The IG dismissed allegations that police assaulted individuals, stating that Patnam Narendar Reddy’s arrest was related to the attack on the district collector, not the pharma land acquisition issue. "We arrested the accused in three phases, and those unrelated to the case were released," he clarified.
He further criticized Patnam Narendar Reddy for spreading false claims during his press conference and noted that no government advocates mistreating farmers. Additionally, he revealed that a voice recording of the prime suspect, Suresh, planning the attack is in police possession and will be disclosed at an appropriate time.
The IG also stated that Narendar Reddy has refused to provide his phone password and alleged that both Patnam Narendar Reddy and Suresh are not cooperating with the investigation.
Meanwhile, Patnam Narendar Reddy has claimed innocence, stating that he has been unfairly implicated in the case. He alleged that the police assaulted farmers in Lagacharla and misbehaved with women in the village. IG Satyanarayana expressed anger over these accusations made by Patnam Narendar Reddy during the press meet.
