APSDMA issues red alert for five districts in Andhra Pradesh

The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) has issued an alert warning of heavy rainfall expected in several districts of the state within the next few hours. Red alerts have been declared for some districts, while others are under orange alert.
According to APSDMA Managing Director Ronanki Kurmanath, heavy rains are likely to occur in isolated places across Prakasam, Krishna, Bapatla, Nellore, and Tirupati districts over the next two to three hours. He warned that thunderstorms are expected along with the rains and strong gusty winds may blow at speeds ranging from 60 to 85 kilometers per hour. In light of these conditions, residents in the affected districts are advised to exercise extreme caution. He urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel and to remain in safe locations.
Meanwhile, the APSDMA has also stated that rainfall is likely in Alluri Sitarama Raju, Vizianagaram, Anakapalli, Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, and Konaseema districts and surrounding areas. An orange alert has been issued for these regions. Moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds is expected in parts of these districts.
Given the prevailing weather conditions, the APSDMA has advised people to remain vigilant. The agency has specifically cautioned the public not to take shelter under billboards, trees, dilapidated walls, or near old buildings. During strong winds and rainfall, people are urged to seek secure shelter and stay away from electric poles and wires. Farmers and cattle herders have been asked to stay away from fields. APSDMA Managing Director Kurmanath has appealed to the public to rely only on official information sources for updates.
