CPI’s K. Narayana Slams Bigg Boss and Beauty Contests as Cultural Threats
Communist Party of India (CPI) National Secretary K. Narayana launched a scathing attack on the television reality show Bigg Boss and the upcoming beauty contests scheduled to be held in Hyderabad. Speaking at a press conference in Tirupati on Monday, K. Narayana stated that both events are detrimental to society and culture.

K. Narayana criticized the Bigg Boss show as a program that offers no benefit to society. He expressed concern that the show is leading youth astray and tarnishing the image of the art world. “When you look at the affairs of Bigg Boss, it seems to convey a message that cheap prostitution is wrong, but expensive prostitution is acceptable,” said K. Narayana. He questioned the portrayal of unmarried individuals sharing a bed on television and condemned such content. He added that if the program were to be streamed live 24 hours a day, the public would witness even more distressing scenes.

K. Narayana revealed that he has been attempting to get the Bigg Boss show banned for some time. He said that despite approaching the police and the district court over the last two years, his petition was not accepted. Eventually, the High Court responded, and has since begun hearing his petition. He further stated that the High Court has issued notices to the show's organizers and its host, Nagarjuna. He expressed hope that the court would deliver a ruling that benefits the public and halts the program.

K. Narayana also strongly criticized the planned beauty contests in Hyderabad. He alleged that such competitions reduce women to mere objects of visual exhibition. He accused organizers of exploiting women's beauty to promote the sale of frivolous products. According to him, just as Bigg Boss is a disgraceful show, so too are these beauty contests, and both contribute to the degradation of women. He dismissed the claim that beauty pageants promote tourism as insulting.

He emphasized that Indian culture and family values are admired globally, and insisted there is nothing to be learned from shows like Bigg Boss. K. Narayana lamented that programs of this nature are emerging solely to destroy the sanctity of Indian tradition.
