He Made Me Fall in Love with Film Songs: Trivikram Srinivas

Renowned director Trivikram Srinivas stated that it was the late lyricist Sirivennela Sitarama Sastry who made him fall in love with film songs. Trivikram Srinivas and Sirivennela Sitarama Sastry shared a well-known and close bond, and no one has spoken about the legendary lyricist with such depth and personal connection as Trivikram Srinivas, owing to the nature of their relationship.

Recently, Trivikram Srinivas shared significant insights about Sirivennela Sitarama Sastry once again. He revealed that before entering the film industry, he was not particularly fond of songs. However, he experienced a transformative moment when he heard the song "Vidhata Thalapuna" from a film written by Sirivennela Sitarama Sastry, describing the experience as mind-blowing. He said the song deeply captivated him, prompting him to search for the meanings of its words in a dictionary. It was at that moment he learned that there are dictionaries for the Telugu language as well.

Trivikram Srinivas further stated that, for some reason, the songs written by Sirivennela Sitarama Sastry after that particular piece did not seem as impressive to him. To this day, "Vidhata Thalapuna" remains his favorite and the most profound among Sirivennela's works. He explained that the lyricist later began using simpler words so that his songs could be easily understood by everyone.

Additionally, Trivikram Srinivas said that Sirivennela Sitarama Sastry used to write multiple versions of lyrics for scenes in his films. He revealed that for the song "Chalore Chalore" from the film Jalsa, the lyricist had written as many as thirty different versions, of which only two were used in the final film. According to Trivikram Srinivas, Sirivennela Sitarama Sastry approached every song with the same seriousness and his greatness lay in writing lyrics that would resonate with the audience.
