Why Did PM Modi Let Pakistan Off with Just a Warning?: Jaya Prakash Narayana’s Analysis

In a detailed analysis of India-Pakistan relations, Lok Satta Party founder Dr. Jaya Prakash Narayana questioned why Prime Minister Narendra Modi chose to let Pakistan off with merely a warning instead of taking severe action. He emphasized that diplomacy and international affairs are not a game of chess, and that maturity and restraint are crucial in dealings between nations.
Dr. Jaya Prakash Narayana clarified that in contemporary times, no country can entirely destroy another. He noted that even a superpower like the United States could not achieve total success in countries such as Afghanistan and Vietnam. “War is not a solution to problems. It is merely an act of aggression. To protect our people, we need a long-term strategy and wisdom,” he stated.
He advised that India should not compare itself with Pakistan and should instead focus on competing with major powers like China and the United States in economic growth. “Our future will be bright only if we strengthen our economy and enhance our influence on the global stage. Reckless actions are not the way forward,” he asserted.
Dr. Jaya Prakash Narayana claimed that some individuals were attempting to incite public sentiment for short-term political gains. He warned that if the rulers of Pakistan failed to learn their lesson, they themselves would face destruction, and its consequences would inevitably affect India as well. He stressed that the people of Pakistan were innocent and should not be held accountable for the actions of their leaders.
He urged political parties to demonstrate restraint and dignity in matters of national security. “Criticism should be constructive. National security should not be exploited for political advantage. All parties must act responsibly in this regard,” he said. He observed that in recent times, the Indian government, military forces, political system, and society had shown considerable maturity, and he recommended that this approach be continued.
Expressing concern over some provocative and irresponsible behavior on social media, Dr. Jaya Prakash Narayana criticized those who were commenting without understanding the facts, likening their attitude to playing video games. “This is not an era of wars,” he recalled Prime Minister Modi saying openly to Russia. “That does not mean we do not need military strength. Whether to avoid war or to protect our interests, military power is essential. Only when we have strength will our words carry weight,” he analyzed.
Dr. Jaya Prakash Narayana concluded that in international relations, the right approach is not aggression but acting with maturity and a focus on long-term national interests.
