Rising Star Vaibhav Suryavanshi Selected for India U-19, Ayush Mhatre to Lead

India’s youth cricket team is all set to embark on an important tour of England next month. In preparation for this, the India Under-19 squad has been officially announced. Mumbai cricketer Ayush Mhatre will lead the team as captain, while 14-year-old batting prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi has earned a spot in the squad—a notable inclusion.
Ayush Mhatre has already showcased his talent in the Indian Premier League (IPL) while representing Chennai Super Kings, and Vaibhav Suryavanshi impressed while playing for Rajasthan Royals. Notably, Vaibhav stunned the cricketing world by scoring a century off just 35 balls against Gujarat Titans. He has also played five first-class matches and one List-A match for Bihar, demonstrating his early experience in domestic cricket.
Ayush Mhatre, aged 17, has shown his prowess in domestic cricket as well, having played nine first-class and seven List-A matches. Mumbai’s wicketkeeper-batsman Abhignyan Kundu has been appointed as the vice-captain of the Under-19 squad.
The tour is scheduled to begin on June 24. As part of the itinerary, the Indian youth team will play a 50-over warm-up match followed by a five-match Youth One Day International (ODI) series against the England Under-19 team. The tour will conclude with two Youth Test matches.
