BJP MP Etela Rajender Responds to Kavitha’s Letter
Telangana’s political landscape has once again intensified following the release of a letter written by Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Member of Legislative Council Kalvakuntla Kavitha to her father, former Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao. On Thursday, both Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Etela Rajender and BJP Legislature Party leader Aleti Maheshwar Reddy reacted sharply to developments surrounding the letter.

During a press conference at the BJP state office in Hyderabad, Etela Rajender stated that meeting with advocates of Telangana’s statehood cause is not a crime. However, he asserted that tapping the phones of party leaders and family members is indeed a criminal offense. “Were these acts taught by Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao himself?” Etela Rajender questioned.

Etela Rajender clarified that “the BJP engages in a state-level fight, not a street fight,” and emphasized that the party does not indulge in base politics. He alleged that the people of Telangana were deceived by Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao for ten years and later faced disappointment after placing their trust in the Congress. He further accused Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao of sowing division among political leaders, a trend that he claimed is now being continued by the current Chief Minister, Anumula Revanth Reddy. Etela added, “If I encounter Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao, I will greet him with folded hands—this is my cultural upbringing.” He also confirmed that he will appear before the commission investigating the Kaleshwaram Project, both as a Member of Parliament and as a former Finance Minister.

BRS Split Inevitable: Aleti Maheshwar Reddy Predicts

BJP Legislature Party leader Aleti Maheshwar Reddy made controversial predictions, claiming that the BRS is on the verge of a split. He suggested that the party may fracture into two or three factions, which would be an unexpected shock to Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao. He further revealed that Kalvakuntla Kavitha is likely to send another letter to her father either tomorrow or the day after, stating that this information is certain.

Aleti Maheshwar Reddy alleged that Kalvakuntla Kavitha had previously aspired to be appointed as the Working President of the BRS, a proposal that Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao did not accept. He claimed that Kavitha is now preparing to form her own group within the party by writing another letter. He added that he had spoken about this development ten days earlier, and that it is now coming to pass. Criticizing Kavitha’s stance on a possible BRS-BJP alliance, Aleti Maheshwar Reddy mocked it as evidence of her political naïveté. He also predicted that former minister T. Harish Rao would be the next to exit the party.
