Honeymoon Tragedy: Indore Couple Missing in Meghalaya’s Cherrapunji
A shocking incident occurred in Meghalaya, where a newlywed couple who had gone on their honeymoon has gone missing. Despite a week passing since their disappearance, there has been no information about their whereabouts, leading to growing concern among their family members. Taking the matter seriously, the state police, officials from other departments, and local residents have launched an intense search operation for the couple. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma confirmed this and stated that he is personally monitoring the case.

According to available details, the couple—Raja Raghuvanshi, a transport businessman from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, and his wife Sonam—were recently married and had travelled to Meghalaya on May 20 for their honeymoon. They were last seen visiting Sohra (Cherrapunji), after which they reportedly disappeared. Local sources indicated that the couple had rented a bike and travelled toward a hilly area. Subsequently, it is believed they abandoned the bike at a location and proceeded on foot.

The Meghalaya government has taken this case seriously and intensified the search efforts. Meanwhile, the couple’s family has announced a reward of ₹5 lakh for anyone who can provide information about their whereabouts.

Commenting on the incident, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said in a video message, “A tragic incident has come to our attention regarding a newlywed couple from Madhya Pradesh who have gone missing. We received this information and were also contacted by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. I have received calls from their state's Home Department as well. The police, officials, and even local residents are actively searching for the couple. I am personally monitoring the situation on a daily basis.”

The Chief Minister added that ongoing rainfall is hampering the search operations. He stated that they are utilizing all available technological resources, but heavy rains in Cherrapunji are creating obstacles to the rescue efforts.
