Dragged the Man Aside After He Fell Under the Car: Home Minister Anitha Counters Jagan’s Tweet
Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha strongly condemned a tweet by YSR Congress Party chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy regarding the recent death of a man named Singaiah. Speaking at a press conference held at the Secretariat on Monday, Vangalapudi Anitha alleged that the behaviour of YSR Congress Party leaders had drastically deteriorated. She stated that Jagan Mohan Reddy's comments were inciting violence in society and stressed that citizens closely observe the words of political leaders.

“It is appalling that when a party worker fell under a vehicle, there was no concern shown. The injured man was dragged aside without compassion and left in thorny bushes. Had he been taken to the hospital in time, perhaps his life could have been saved. Are political gains more important to Jagan Mohan Reddy than human lives? Even after two people died, he continued his tour without interruption,” said Vangalapudi Anitha.

She remarked that defending such actions was even more deplorable. “Jagan Mohan Reddy is a criminal hiding under the mask of politics. Even during his previous visit to Sri Sathya Sai district, he created disturbances. In Podili, stones were thrown at women and police. During his trip to Rentapalla, he refused to listen to police instructions. A person who has been in politics for 20 years should know how to visit someone to offer condolences. It appears that Jagan is stepping out only to show force. His response of ‘What’s wrong with saying Rappa, Rappa?’ reflects his mindset,” she criticised.

Vangalapudi Anitha clarified that there are no lapses in the Z category security provided to former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. She rejected allegations regarding his security and stated that the police department is ensuring full protection as per protocol. She also mentioned that the bulletproof vehicle allocated to him is made available every day, though he chooses to travel in his personal vehicle. “Whether or not he uses the bulletproof vehicle, it is our responsibility to keep it available for someone under Z security,” Anitha said.

The Home Minister assured that the coalition government would act impartially and transparently concerning anyone’s security. She alleged that certain individuals were deliberately making inflammatory remarks. Referring to a recent incident in Rentachintala, she condemned statements such as “We will butcher like sacrificial rams at Gangamma Jathara,” and questioned the mindset of those who made and defended such remarks.

Vangalapudi Anitha accused some YSR Congress Party workers of provoking violence while holding a sickle in one hand and a party flag in the other, and alleged that Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy was encouraging them. “One says we will cut, another says we will slice. When questioned about these violent statements, they claim it's just a movie dialogue. Just because violence is shown in films, does that mean it can be enacted in real life too?” she asked. She expressed frustration that when police take action against such individuals, they are accused of harassment.

She asserted that individuals who incite violence should have no place in politics. “Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy seems to be indirectly sending a dangerous message to society—that they will return in 2029 and continue this violence. The people of the state must reflect on this,” she said.

Vangalapudi Anitha further stated that in the event of a road accident, responsible public representatives would typically stop to help and ensure the injured receive medical attention. She recalled how former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s convoy responded promptly during a recent accident. In contrast, she indirectly criticised YSR Congress Party leaders for behaving differently. She reiterated that the government is committed to maintaining law and order and warned that strict action would be taken against those inciting violence.
