Prime Minister Modi Showers Praise on "Yogandhra", Calls It a Model for the Nation
Prime Minister Narendra Modi lavished praise on the Andhra Pradesh government’s “Yogandhra” initiative during the Union Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday. He made a special mention of the programme, commending Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Minister Nara Lokesh for their vision and execution. Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the event as one of the most prestigious and impactful programmes he has witnessed.

“I have never seen a large-scale initiative like ‘Yogandhra’ before,” said Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Cabinet session. He applauded the state government for the success of the month-long yoga programme, calling it an exceptional achievement under the leadership of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Minister Nara Lokesh. “I have seen many programmes, but none have matched the scale and inspiration of ‘Yogandhra.’ Its design and execution surpassed my expectations,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi reportedly told his Cabinet colleagues.

The Prime Minister praised the Andhra Pradesh government's ability to bring together people from all age groups, genders, and communities for 30 consecutive days of yoga activities. “This is not just a programme; it is a movement,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi remarked. Reflecting on his experience at the International Yoga Day celebrations in Visakhapatnam, he stated that it was unlike any of the yoga events he had attended in the past eleven years and provided a deeply joyful experience.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that he had requested the Andhra Pradesh government to submit a comprehensive report detailing the planning, public engagement strategies, and implementation methods of the “Yogandhra” programme. He mentioned that once the report is received, it will be shared with all states so that they can study and adopt the best practices. He further noted that others could learn from the way Chandrababu Naidu and Nara Lokesh successfully executed such a large-scale programme. He urged Union Ministers to study the success of “Yogandhra.”

It is worth noting that on June 21, during the International Day of Yoga in Visakhapatnam, a record-breaking 3,02,087 people participated in a single yoga session, earning a place in the Guinness World Records. Remarkably, some individuals arrived at the venue as early as 2 a.m. A QR code-based tracking system was used to ensure accurate attendance, setting a new standard in government programme management.

As part of the “Yogandhra” campaign, 22,122 tribal students performed Surya Namaskars simultaneously, creating another Guinness World Record. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his happiness over these achievements.
