Telangana BJP leader K Lakshman elected to Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh
Hyderabad: BJP OBC Morcha chairman and former Musheerabad MLA K Lakshman was unanimously elected to the Rajya Sabha. The Central Election Commission (CEC) has announced that he has been unanimously elected to the Rajya Sabha on Friday. He received the declaration form from the Returning Officer. K Lakshman disclosed this on his Twitter handle. "I have been elected to the Rajya Sabha as a Member of Parliament from the state of Uttar Pradesh," he tweeted.
It may be recalled that the BJP has fielded him in the Uttar Pradesh quota for the Rajya Sabha elections. Lakshman thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president JP Nadda and Uttar P radish Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for giving him the opportunity for the Rajya Sabha membership.
Former Telangana BJP State unit president K Lakshman has served state Legislative Assembly twice, representing the Musheerabad seat. He won for the first time in undivided Andhra Pradesh in 1999.
In 2014, he was re-elected and between 2014 and 2016 he also served as the party’s deputy floor leader in the Assembly. In 2016, he was elected as the BJP’s state president, a position he held until 2020. In the same year, he was named head of the BJP’s OBC Morcha.
