Chalo Anumarlapudi: TDP leader Dhulipalla arrested, others placed under house arrest
Guntur, June 20: The police arrested former TDP MLA Dhulipalla Narendra Kumar at Anumarlapudi lake in Ponnur mandal on Monday. The TDP gave ‘Chalo Anumarlapudi’ call alleging ruling party leaders are digging mud from the lake without permission from officials. Narendra expressed anger over cops for stopping him from visiting the lake to highlight illegal excavation of mud. They forcibly shifted him to a local police station.
The local TDP cadre tried to reach Anumarlapudi in a bike rally but they were prevented by cops. Heated argument broke between the party leaders and police. The TDP functionaries raised slogans against the YSRCP government and police.
Former TDP minister Nakka Anand Babu was placed under house arrest in Guntur. Cops were stationed at TDP leader Alapati Rajendra Prasad at Guntur cross roads to prevent him from heading to Anumarlapudi. The police also placed ex-TDP MLA Tenali Sravan Kumar and G. Chiranjeevi under house arrest in Tadepalli and Mangalagiri respectively.
