MP GVL urges Railway Minister to fast-track Vizag SCoR zone works
Delhi, August 6: BJP Rajya Sabha member GVL Narasimha Rao met Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw here on Friday and urged him to speed up office construction for the South Coast Railway (SCoR) Zone in Visakhapatnam. In response, he assured to GVL that funds will be sanctioned to begin works.
The MP handed over a representation to Railway Minister with requests such as introducing direct train between Visakhapatnam and Bengaluru as berths are not available for port city people in the long-distance trains passing through Vizag.
GVL brought to the notice of Ashwini Vaishnaw that 1.5 lakh people from Purvanchal region in Uttar Pradesh are living in Visakhapatnam. He requested him to sanction a superfast direct express train between Visakhapatnam and Varanasi.
The MP informed Railway Minister that he will request Prime Minister Narendra Modi to lay foundation for the SCoR zone works at the earliest. The Government of India announced creation of SCoR to Andhra Pradesh but not yet been operationalised.
