Is Boycott Laal Singh Chaddha reason for Amir Khan's film faring badly at box office?
Mumbai: Bollywood's Mr Perfect Aamir Khan's latest movie 'Lalsingh Chaddha'. Kareena Kapoor and Akkineni Naga Chaitanya played key roles in this film, which was made as a Hindi remake of the Oscar-winning film 'Forrest Gump'. This movie is directed by Advait Chandan.
The film is jointly produced by Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, Jyoti Desh Pandey and Ajith Andhare under the banner of Viacom Studios, Paramount Pictures and Aamir Khan Productions. The posters, teaser, songs and trailer released from this movie created a good hype about the movie. The film hit the screens on August 11 amid huge expectations.
However, 'Lal Singh Chaddha' has been shrouded in negative talk since the first day of its release. It could not collect as much as expected. The film, which collected Rs 11.70 crore on the day of the film's release on Thursday, fell to Rs 7.26 crore on the second day on Friday. In total, in the first two days, the film collected Rs. 18.96 crore only.
That means the film couldn't even reach the Rs 20 crore mark. Since the beginning of the film's promotions, there has been a lot of negativity on social media against 'Lal Singh Chaddha' as part of 'Boycott Lal Singh’. The hashtag 'Boycott Lal Singh Chaddha' has also become trending. It seems that this trend is the reason for Aamir Khan's film achieved such a low collection.
Also, the effect of the 'Boycott Bollywood' saga has fallen as well as on another star hero Akshay Kumar. The film 'Raksha Bandhan', was also released on August 11. On the first day on Thursday, the film collected Rs 8.20 crore, on the second day on Friday it collected Rs 6.40 crore. Overall, less than Aamir Khan's film. It is progressing slowly with collections of 14.60 crore. Judging by the collections of these two films, it seems that the impact of 'Boycott Bollywood' is huge.
