Children of Former AP Chief Ministers Enter the Election Arena
The electoral battle in Andhra Pradesh (AP) has become more intriguing as eight descendants of former Chief Ministers (CMs) have entered the fray.
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, son of the late CM YS Rajasekhara Reddy of united AP and the current CM, is contesting from Pulivendula, a constituency from which he has won the last two elections as MLA.
Nara Lokesh, son of former CM Chandrababu Naidu, is contesting from Mangalagiri. He served as a minister in the previous government.
Nandamuri Balakrishna, son of TDP founder and former CM NT Rama Rao and a prominent film actor, is once again contesting from the Hindupur MLA seat, from which he has won the last two elections.
Nadendla Manohar, son of former CM Nadendla Bhaskara Rao and the chairman of the Janasena political affairs committee, is contesting from Tenali, a constituency he has represented as MLA twice before.
Kotla Surya Prakash Reddy, son of former CM Kotla Vijayabhaskar Reddy, is contesting in these elections from the Don Assembly constituency under the TDP banner. He has previously served three terms as MP and has also been a Union Minister.
Nedurumalli Ramkumar Reddy, son of former CM Nedurumalli Janardhan Reddy, is contesting from the Venkatagiri Assembly constituency under the YSRCP banner.
Purandeswari, daughter of former CM NT Rama Rao and currently the state president of BJP, is attempting to contest in the Lok Sabha elections. She has previously served as MP for Bapatla and Visakhapatnam and as a Union Minister.
There are rumors that YS Sharmila, daughter of the late Rajasekhara Reddy, currently serving as the state president of the Congress in AP, is planning to contest in the Lok Sabha elections.
