Virat Kohli’s Sydney Outing with Anushka Goes Viral Amid Criticism of Team India
As the Indian cricket team prepares for the final match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) series, a video of star player Virat Kohli strolling through the streets of Sydney with his wife, Anushka Sharma, has taken social media by storm. The team recently arrived in Sydney from Melbourne for the fifth and final Test of the series.
In the video, Kohli and Anushka are seen wearing coordinated black outfits, reportedly heading for a New Year’s party. Joining them in the video is young cricketer Devdutt Padikkal. Fans of Kohli have widely shared the video across social media platforms, making it a viral sensation.
Meanwhile, the Indian cricket team, led by Rohit Sharma, is facing criticism for its underwhelming performance in the BGT series. Despite high expectations, the team has lagged behind, trailing 2-1 in the five-match series. The Boxing Day Test in Melbourne saw India suffer a heavy defeat, intensifying the scrutiny from critics and former players alike.
Senior players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have particularly been under the scanner, with some former cricketers expressing frustration over their performances. Allegations have surfaced that the duo, instead of strengthening the team, has become a liability. Some have even suggested that Kohli and Rohit consider retirement to make way for younger players.
Despite the criticism, Kohli's Test career remains remarkable. Having played 122 matches, he has scored 9,207 runs, including 30 centuries. Under his captaincy, Kohli led India to historic overseas victories, including triumphs in Australia, cementing his status as one of India’s most successful Test captains.
On the other hand, Rohit Sharma has played 67 Test matches, amassing 4,302 runs with some memorable innings. Though his achievements in red-ball cricket are notable, his greatest successes have come in white-ball cricket. Rohit guided India to several remarkable victories, including leading the team to the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup and winning the T20 World Cup title last year.
However, both Kohli and Rohit are currently struggling with a lack of form, which has left fans and analysts questioning their future in the longer format of the game.
