Triple Film Fest: A Rare Sankranti Release from Top Telugu Families
Sankranti, the festival celebrated after the harvest season, brings joy, family gatherings, and long-standing traditions across the Telugu states. One such cherished custom is inviting daughters and sons-in-law home for celebrations, while spending time with family and friends. Alongside these festivities, releasing new films during Sankranti has also become a well-established tradition in the Telugu film industry. This year, audiences are in for a special treat as three major films – “Daaku Maharaj”, “Sankranti Ki Vastunnaam”, and “Game Changer” – are set to hit theaters during the festive season.
Typically, big-budget films featuring top stars dominate Sankranti releases. Fans eagerly anticipate which family – from the Mega Family, Nandamuri Family, Daggubati Family, or Akkineni Family – will grace the screens with a new movie. Over the years, at least one film from these prominent families has traditionally been part of the Sankranti lineup. However, this year is unique, as films from three out of these four major families will be released, with the Akkineni family being the only exception.
Among the films lined up, “Daaku Maharaj”, featuring Balakrishna and directed by Bobby, has garnered significant anticipation, especially among mass audiences. The film promises to deliver high-octane action sequences, making it a potential crowd-puller during the festive season. Meanwhile, Venkatesh, under the direction of Anil Ravipudi, will entertain audiences with “Sankranti Ki Vastunnaam”, a family drama laced with comedy that aims to appeal to a broad range of viewers. Adding to the excitement, Ram Charan’s “Game Changer”, directed by Shankar, is also set for a grand release, heightening expectations.
The release of three films from three major families during Sankranti is considered a rare feat, making this year’s festival even more special for fans. Despite the absence of a film from the Akkineni family, fans are not disappointed, as Nagarjuna’s “Na Saamiranga” emerged as a Sankranti winner last year, leaving a lasting impression.
