AP Deploys 1,500 Teams for Free Cancer Screening: Health Minister Y. Satyakumar
Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Y. Satyakumar made a key announcement today, stating that the state government is providing free cancer screening services. He revealed that screenings for breast, cervical, and throat cancer are being conducted under the supervision of the state’s Health Department.

According to the minister, the government has deployed 1,500 teams across the state to facilitate these screenings. These teams include 4,000 doctors, 18,000 Primary Health Center (PHC) staff members, and 4,000 Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs). Additionally, 155 super-specialists and 238 specialists are also available for support.

The free cancer screenings are being conducted at Ayushman Bharat centers in villages. Minister Y. Satyakumar stated that so far, screenings have been conducted for 7.1 million people, out of which 66,000 individuals have shown signs of cancer.

He further mentioned that those exhibiting symptoms are being referred to the cancer care units in medical college hospitals. Tests are conducted on Tuesdays and Thursdays to determine the severity of the disease.
