Ashwath Marimuthu Wants to Direct Mahesh Babu: "Just One Chance is Enough"

Tamil director Ashwath Marimuthu has revealed his long-standing wish to direct superstar Mahesh Babu, stating that all he needs is "one chance" to make it happen. Speaking at a recent pre-release event for his upcoming romantic entertainer Dragon, starring Pradeep Ranganathan, the filmmaker shared why he is keen on collaborating with the Telugu superstar.
Marimuthu recalled an incident from 2020 when his Twitter account received an unprecedented number of views. At first, he was unsure of the reason, but he later discovered that Mahesh Babu had praised his film Oh My Kadavule in a social media post. The director stated that the unexpected appreciation from Mahesh Babu brought significant attention to the film, which was originally a small-scale production made on a budget of just ₹3 crore.
He emphasized that Mahesh Babu had shared his views on the movie without any prior request from the filmmakers. Following this, several Telugu directors and actors watched the film and extended their appreciation. Marimuthu admitted that ever since that moment, he has been hoping for an opportunity to direct Mahesh Babu.
Whether Mahesh Babu will acknowledge the director’s request remains to be seen.
