Star Director Shankar’s Assets Seized by ED
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has taken action against renowned filmmaker Shankar by seizing immovable assets worth ₹10 crore under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. The ED confirmed that the assets were attached on the 17th of this month.

The case stems from a copyright infringement allegation made in 2011 by a petitioner named Arur Tamilnathan. He accused Shankar of copying the story of his film Robo from his own work, Jiguba. The petition alleged that Shankar violated copyright laws and the Information Technology Act.

Additionally, a report from the Film and Television Institute of India also supported the claims against Shankar. Citing the report, the ED stated that the filmmaker had violated Section 63 of the Copyright Act.

Shankar reportedly received ₹15 crore as remuneration for Robo, which was released in 2010 and became a massive success.
